Study on African Americans' Perception of Hospice Care...
A new study from Duke University Medical Center indicates that feelings of mistrust towards the healthcare system and preference for curative treatment are factors in African Americans' understandings of hospice care. News of this research was reported by Forbes/HealthDay News and a summary of this study can be found on the Kaiser Family Foundation's Web site. A previously issued report, "Key Topics on End-of-Life Care for African Americans," is also available online from the Duke Institute for Care at the End of Life (DICEOL). Caring Connections is developing an African American outreach guide in collaboration with the DICEOL that will be available by fall 2008.
